Enjoy a hearty welcome at The Albion, a traditional waterfront pub in Arnside, Cumbria.
Sitting on the banks of the Kent estuary, in the picturesque village of Arnside, a part of the “Arnside & Silverdale Area of Outstanding Beauty”, The Albion is the perfect place to come for award-winning food, drink and service. Situated on the edge of the Lake District, we have stunning views and sunsets across the Lakes Hills. You may also catch the Arnside Bore where the incoming tide meets the water in the Estuary; take a look for yourself >> or view the tide times before your next visit >>.
Food is available all day from 12 Noon until 9pm daily (excluding Christmas Day) and our bar is open from 12 Noon until 11pm Sunday to Thursday and until 11.30pm on Friday and Saturday.
We look forward to welcoming you to The Albion soon.
Gaz and the Team.
Our food reflects the local environment – with locally reared meat and fresh fish always featuring in our kitchen. We source the best ingredients for our dishes, using local seasonal produce wherever possible.
We have gift vouchers for sale, ideal presents at any time! Please call us if you wish to purchase one.
We feature changing daily specials devised by our kitchen team, led by Head Chef Chris Reid and our food is available from 12 Noon until 9pm everyday (excluding Christmas Day).
On a frosty day relax in the cosy bar and warm your cockles with some home cooked food – what about braised shoulder of lamb served with garlic potatoes? When the weather bucks up you can soak up some rays in the beer garden with freshly battered haddock and chips – perfect with a pint whilst watching the tide turn on the estuary.
If you’re here for a drink, our bar is open from 12 Noon until 11pm Sundays to Thursdays and until 11.30pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
We have guest beers to tickle your fancy and an enviable range of Cask ales; our full-bodied Lancaster Bomber to the smoother sweeter Wainwright- something for every palate and occasion. Our latest favourite with the Locals is ‘The Bore’, brewed by Thwaites for us! Additionally we feature four chilled lagers, Kingston Press Cider, Kingston Rosy Cider and Guinness on our bars.
We also have a wide range of wines, bottled lagers and fruit ciders, as well as a number of soft drinks including J2Os.
Please note; we can only take same-day table bookings by telephone.
Our carefully selected wine features wine from the bottle and by the glass including Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay in the whites, Italian & Californian Rosé and Merlot, Shiraz, Malbec and Rioja in the Reds.
Arnside is a bustling Village in the Arnside & Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, see www.arnsidesilverdaleaonb.org.uk.
We have art galleries, gift shops, numerous cafés including the Big Fish & Chip Shop, health studios, lots of local clubs and activities, two WI’s and many places to stay.
Whilst Arnside is generally considered a peaceful get-away-from-it-all kind of holiday resort, it could never be described as dull. Even when the sun’s not shining – and there are days when it does actually rain in Cumbria – there’s so much to do in the area it’s hard to know where to start…
There are a whole host of beaches, nature reserves and beautiful walks right on Arnside’s doorstep. We’ve even got our own fourteenth century ruined tower – well worth a stroll to before descending on the pub.
Levens Hall, Sizergh Castle and Holker Hall are all beautifully restored country homes with stunning gardens open to the public – and there are National Trust properties in the area just waiting to be explored.
If you’re the sporty sort, there’s opportunity to take advantage of beautiful golf courses or maybe enjoy a pony trek through wooded glades. And it’s easy getting about. There is a regular train service – and Arnside is ever so close to the M6 if you want to go further afield.
If you’re planning to stay a while – and we hope you do – it’s worth mentioning we have a number of B&B’s and Hotels which are a perfect base for any Lake District holiday. For more information please see places to stay.
Finally, it goes without saying that our stunning National Park is awash with peaks just waiting to be scaled – that said, it might be less tiring if you just stay in our bar and look at them through the window!

Nestling on the shore of the beautiful Kent Estuary, The Albion boasts stunning views over the water – it’s the perfect spot to unwind and maybe even enjoy a spectacular Cumbrian sunset.
Built over 200 years ago, The Albion was originally a private house owned by a wealthy local businessman but converted into a public house when the death knell sounded for coastal trading.
As you’d expect, we’ve an enviable selection of Cask ales in our well-stocked bar and with a heritage anchored firmly between sea and mountains, we take great pride in the dishes we create too. Our dedicated team make excellent use of wonderful local ingredients found right here on our doorstep – what could be better than a hearty dish of local Cumberland sausage after bagging a few peaks? Or for that old sea-dog in you, locally-caught plaice topped with Morecambe Bay Shrimps?
Arnside is located within one of Britain’s smallest Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It really is a quiet haven for anyone wanting to get away from it all, yet it’s surprisingly well connected too – close to the M6 and with good rail links to the busy outside world!
So if you’re passing, please do call in and see us. You’re always guaranteed a warm welcome here at The Albion.
Please note; although dogs are not permitted in The Albion, you are more than welcome to dine ‘Al-fresco’ with your four legged friend.
